Paul first made a name for himself as a documentary photographer, capturing niche sub-cultures within the South African youth landscape. It is with this keen observational eye that Paul is able to seamlessly and honestly transform his documentary aesthetic into a commercial frame. “It is always my first objective to create authentic and genuine stories. Whether they are in still frames or moving images, honesty is core to my image making process. Life is my inspiration and my goal is to portray that as genuinely and beautifully as possible.”
In recent years Paul has been working internationally, shooting all over the globe for a number of high profile clients, who seek his honest view into youth culture. His transition from stills to film was natural one, coming from a desired request from client to transform his still lens into motion.
